Our mission
We want to give all contact lens wearers easy access to contact lenses at a discount price.
Our aim is to enable all our customers to order their products quickly and easily, and have them delivered to their home quickly. To achieve this, we now offer a modern online shop and a warehouse that is second to none. We now have 19,000 different products and lens values in stock for you, with a total of 200,000 packs! Our employees do their best every day to send these to you directly from Dietlikon in the Canton of Zurich.
Discountlens is now one of the largest online shops for contact lenses in Switzerland, and delivers also to customers in other European countries. However, we are more than just an online shop – we have an interesting history and an exciting future.
Originally founded as a small online shop, we have developed considerably. Our location in Dietlikon continuously invests in employees and automation. Today, we employ more than 50 people at three different locations, although Switzerland is our home. Warehousing and logistics, administration and customer service are based in Dietlikon.
1969- Jacqueline Urbach's pioneering work and inventive talent
Jacqueline Urbach founded the ‘Urbach Optik Contact lens Institute’ in Zurich in 1969 and was a pioneer of modern contact lens technology. In the 1960s, she invented the coloured contact lenses in Hollywood that could be seen in films like 'Lawrence of Arabia'. She later devoted herself to research into the materials used to make soft contact lenses. She held a total of six patents for contact lens innovations, which are now owned by the contact lens manufacturer Alcon.

2004 - Her son Steven Urbach has the right instinct for a forward-looking business idea with discountlens. He opened one of the first online shops for contact lenses in Switzerland.

In the 20 years since we started out as a small online shop, we have grown into one of the largest contact lens suppliers in Switzerland. With our big team in Dietlikon, we supply thousands of satisfied customers every day.
